My background and qualifications

Life coach and art historian – how does that go together?

As a life coach (and mother of two adult sons), I bring a lot of life experience and a deep understanding for the challenges we face in the 21st century into my coaching practice. Before embarking on this path, however, I worked in higher education. As an art historian, I have always been fascinated by how images shape social discourses- then and now. How they convey ideas, provoke thought and show how deeply held beliefs literally shape our world. Art teaches me that there is always a direct connection between ideas (content) and the form they take.

This may sound abstract, but it has very practical applications:  If we want to change whatever is plaguing us or our society, we need to understand and transform the thought patterns and feelings behind these challenges. It is not enough to simply change the form on the outside without also changing the content. Often, however, the most formative inner beliefs that form our outer reality are deeply rooted in the unconscious and are therefore difficult to access. Without becoming aware of these 'shadow aspects', we run the risk of repeating the old and getting stuck in the paradigm we want to change. Support from others in this process is very helpful.

That is why I decided to become a life coach. My aim is to support people - individually and in groups - not only to cope with the many crises of our time, but also to create real, life-enhancing innovations, to help recognize and let go of inner blockages and to develop previously hidden potential. With strengthened self-confidence and a new sense of optimism, changes in life can occur that have a positive impact not only for ourselves but also for the people and the world around us.
